Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team! In this vital role, you will support dentists and hygienists by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring smooth patient flow, and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment. Duties

  • Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental supplies, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use
  • Take dental radiographs (X-ray images), adhering strictly to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
  • Record detailed medical and dental histories, vital signs, and medical documentation accurately in electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques, proper sterilization procedures, and knowledge of anatomy to ensure patient safety
  • Support administrative tasks such as answering the dental receptionist phone line, scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing medical coding for billing purposes
  • Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and explain dental terminology clearly to enhance patient understanding

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting procedures
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to dentistry
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support pediatric patients and handle sensitive situations professionally
  • Certification in dental assisting or related field preferred; ongoing education in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is advantageous
