Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control standards. Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and I-Tero scanners to capture accurate medical images while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Dentrix Ascend, documenting treatment details, medical history, and dental terminology accurately. Support patient care by reviewing medical documentation, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding. Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to uphold the highest standards of safety within the clinic environment. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks as a dental receptionist when needed. Implement four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during chairside assisting, reducing procedure times while improving patient experience.

Experience
Previous experience working in a private dental office setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry procedures. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Dentrix Ascend is essential for managing medical records and documentation accurately. Hands-on experience with X-ray technology, including taking radiographs in compliance with safety standards, is required. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is critical for providing safe and effective assistance. Familiarity with medical coding and documentation related to dental procedures will support accurate billing and record-keeping. Experience with advanced imaging tools like I-Tero scanner and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a plus but not mandatory.
