Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control standards
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Epic to accurately document treatment details and medical history
  • Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
  • Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient communications
  • Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical documentation to ensure precise record keeping

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and documentation is a plus
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques within a dental setting
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry
  • Certification or training in X-ray technology and chairside assisting techniques (Four-handed dentistry) is desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities such as medical records management and appointment scheduling

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
