Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of treatments including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures
- Take dental X-rays and medical imaging to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage patient records using Dentrix while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions with clear communication
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization protocols
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics preferred
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and patient information
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and taking X-rays
- Knowledge of EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records efficiently
- Understanding of infection control protocols, anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe practice
- Experience with medical imaging devices such as 3D scanners is a plus but not required
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals
