Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of pediatric dental procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient care
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging while maintaining proper aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Support infection control protocols by adhering to strict sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation and coding
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry preferred
- Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document treatments
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting
- Knowledge of EMR systems for managing electronic health records effectively
- Understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and proper use of X-ray equipment
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatrics, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout their visit
