Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient care, and dental procedures, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during various treatments, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during general dentistry procedures, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly following aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans when necessary, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document treatment details accurately and efficiently.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical documentation.
- Uphold infection control standards by following proper sterilization protocols and maintaining a clean clinical environment aligned with OSHA guidelines.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing dental health.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside support.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately and safely.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security in medical documentation.
- Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is preferred; familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures is advantageous.
