Job Opportunity: Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA)

Location: Greater Houston (Galleria, Heights, Spring, Cypress, Missouri city)

Position: Full-Time, On-Site

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our team. In this role, you will support our dental professionals in delivering high-quality oral healthcare services. Your responsibilities will include both clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective dental care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chairside Assistance:
  • Assist the dentist during procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are readily available.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments.
  • Provide chairside support, including passing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Patient Care:
  • Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
  • Record patient medical and dental histories.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  • Help manage patient anxiety and ensure comfort.
  • Radiography:
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed.
  • Follow proper techniques and safety protocols during radiographic procedures.
  • Impressions and Models:
  • Take dental impressions for diagnostic casts.
  • Pour and trim models for the dentist's review.
  • Manage and order dental supplies.
  • Infection Control:
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols.
  • Sterilize instruments and equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Laboratory Work:
  • Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and ALL-on-4 appliances.
  • Assist in creating other dental prosthetics as needed.
  • Continuing Education:
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Certification as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, as required by state regulations.
  • Radiography certification (if necessary).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a dental setting is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week.
