Job Opportunity: Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA)
Location: Greater Houston (Galleria, Heights, Spring, Cypress, Missouri city)
Position: Full-Time, On-Site
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our team. In this role, you will support our dental professionals in delivering high-quality oral healthcare services. Your responsibilities will include both clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective dental care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chairside Assistance:
- Assist the dentist during procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are readily available.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments.
- Provide chairside support, including passing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Patient Care:
- Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
- Record patient medical and dental histories.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Help manage patient anxiety and ensure comfort.
- Radiography:
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed.
- Follow proper techniques and safety protocols during radiographic procedures.
- Impressions and Models:
- Take dental impressions for diagnostic casts.
- Pour and trim models for the dentist's review.
- Manage and order dental supplies.
- Infection Control:
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols.
- Sterilize instruments and equipment according to established guidelines.
- Laboratory Work:
- Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and ALL-on-4 appliances.
- Assist in creating other dental prosthetics as needed.
- Continuing Education:
- Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and regulations.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
- Certification as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, as required by state regulations.
- Radiography certification (if necessary).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- At least 1 year of experience in a dental setting is preferred.
Compensation:
- Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
- Expected Hours: 40 hours per week.
