Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to aseptic technique standards.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including digital imaging with 3D scanners when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
• Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to promote a positive experience.
• Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently.
• Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all clinical areas meet OSHA standards for safety and cleanliness.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to assist with patient education and treatment explanations.

Experience

• xray license and coronal polishing certificate required
• Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix is essential for managing patient records effectively.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes is required to maintain a safe clinical environment.
• Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of dental assisting duties such as chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and supporting various specialties like prosthodontics or endodontics is desirable.
• Certification in CPR or radiography may be required depending on state regulations; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance is expected.
