Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterile. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Perform chairside assisting with aseptic techniques, infection control measures, and vital signs monitoring to promote patient safety and comfort. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing medical documentation and records, and coordinating follow-up care. Apply knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with patients and team members about procedures and treatment plans. Ensure the clinic maintains high standards of infection control and aseptic technique in accordance with OSHA guidelines.

Skills
Proficiency with dental software platforms like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Experience with medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate billing and insurance claims processing. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to assist with child patients comfortably and effectively. Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety standards. Familiarity with advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners for prosthodontics or endodontic treatments. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly using appropriate dental terminology; compassionate approach when working with pediatric patients.
