Dental Assistant

Job Summary

Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Manage patient records by updating medical histories, documenting treatment details in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Collect vital signs and medical information from patients to assist in comprehensive treatment planning.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
  • Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical documentation.

Skills

  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate record keeping and medical coding.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
  • Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry settings, including pediatric dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics.
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members such as dental receptionists and other clinical staff.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
