Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Duties

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques also by keeping office clean.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety regulations.
  • Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling appointments and documenting patient information.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  • Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist with ordering when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; knowledge of Epic is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform medical imaging and understand medical coding is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing patient records and documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
