Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by preparing treatment areas, handing instruments, and managing dental materials efficiently.
- Operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, complying with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and explaining procedures clearly using appropriate dental terminology.
- Manage appointment scheduling as a dental receptionist, ensuring smooth patient flow and timely treatment delivery.
- Uphold aseptic techniques and infection control standards to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Assist with chairside procedures across various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and answer questions related to dental terminology or procedures.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and operating X-ray equipment.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform medical imaging procedures accurately using 3D scanners or traditional radiography tools.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists effectively.
