Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics by handing instruments and managing materials efficiently.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners and medical imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring accurate coding for insurance claims using EMR systems like Dentrix or Epic.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and compliance with infection control standards.
- Educate patients about treatment plans, post-operative care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and cooperation.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and handling administrative tasks with professionalism.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, HIPAA compliance, dental terminology, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry including teeth structure, oral cavity anatomy, and related medical terminology.
- Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable along with skills in chairside assisting for various specialties like prosthodontics or endodontics.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages including pediatrics; ability to work well within a team practicing four-handed dentistry techniques. Pay: $25.24 - $30.40 per hour
