Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while following strict aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding efficiently
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging when necessary to support patient health assessments
  • Support the dental receptionist in scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow

Skills

  • Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic for managing medical records and documentation
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile clinical environment
  • Experience with dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, taking X-rays (including 3D scans), and vital signs monitoring
  • Familiarity with dental terminology related to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
  • Ability to operate dental equipment such as intraoral cameras, medical imaging devices, and digital X-ray machines safely and effectively
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members like dental receptionists and hygienists while providing compassionate patient care
