Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments with precision and care
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, and ensuring all supplies are stocked
- Take high-quality dental radiographs (X-ray images) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records in EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, and scheduling appointments with efficiency
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical information accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
- Support administrative tasks including dental terminology explanations, medical documentation, coding for insurance claims, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices confidently
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable to support young patients effectively
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; certification in CPR is a plus
