Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology accurately and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Support the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling, patient communication, and maintaining organized medical documentation.

Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic for accurate documentation and record-keeping. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and anatomy to uphold clinic safety standards. Experience with dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, medical imaging, and managing medical records. Familiarity with dental terminology across specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, and general dentistry. Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners and X-ray machines effectively. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members like dental receptionists and hygienists while providing outstanding patient care. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical coding practices to ensure compliance with healthcare laws.
