Dental Assistant

Job Summary

In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
  • Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols.
  • Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Perform vital signs measurements and assess patient comfort levels before procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and cooperation.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by following strict infection control procedures and aseptic techniques in line with industry standards.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation for accurate recordkeeping.
  • Collaborate effectively with the team to ensure smooth clinic operations using skills in dental assisting, medical coding, and medical records management.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
  • Proficiency in dental assisting duties including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and handling dental terminology is essential.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is advantageous for efficient record management.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical terminology is required to ensure safe patient care.
  • Experience with medical imaging equipment like 3D scanners or digital X-ray systems will be considered a strong asset.
  • Certification in radiography or dental assisting from accredited programs is desirable; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance and infection prevention is encouraged.
