Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments and managing materials efficiently.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
- Provide chairside assistance by monitoring vital signs, explaining procedures to patients, and ensuring their comfort throughout treatments.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical documentation responsibly.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience assisting with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively explain procedures and assist patients of all ages.
- Certification or training in chairside assisting, medical terminology, medical coding, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
