Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring a smooth operation within the clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and patient care techniques. Must be certified in the state of NH to take xrays.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop X-rays as needed, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging and dental radiography.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate medical documentation and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct chairside assisting, including preparing instruments and materials for procedures.
- Monitor and record vital signs of patients before and during treatments.
- Provide support in pediatric dentistry by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.
- Assist with the operation of 3D scanners for advanced imaging when required.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow effectively.
- Maintain an organized inventory of dental supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Proficient knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical records management.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform basic medical coding and documentation tasks related to patient care.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
