Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, and post-treatment care to promote understanding and cooperation.
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology related to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
