Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use following strict infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining proper safety measures and adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to document treatment details accurately and efficiently.
- Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with the dental team as a four-handed dentistry partner to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Assist with medical documentation and coding related to dental procedures to ensure accurate recordkeeping and billing.
- Support the dental receptionist in scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative duties related to medical records.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and vital signs measurement.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform medical imaging procedures including X-ray and 3D scanning with precision and safety awareness.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is highly desirable; familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures is a plus.
