Dental Assistant

Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant, where your energy and expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinic operations. Duties

  • Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and passing tools efficiently using four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage patient intake by recording vital signs, medical history, and updating electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy.
  • Support medical documentation processes including coding procedures for insurance claims and maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality.
  • Operate advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and guiding patients through their visit process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment following infection control standards and ensuring all equipment is sterilized properly.
  • Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures by applying age-appropriate communication techniques and ensuring a comforting experience for young patients.
  • Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical records management, insurance processing, and billing.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or specialized dental practice; familiarity with dental terminology is essential.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
  • Ability to operate X-ray machines safely and accurately; certification in radiography preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation practices.
  • Experience supporting pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a professional attitude; capable of working efficiently in a team-oriented environment supporting four-handed dentistry.
