Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures such as cleanings, restorations, endodontic treatments, prosthodontic work, and pediatric dentistry interventions.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using modern imaging technology including 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
  • Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
  • Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing patient comfort throughout procedures.
  • Collect vital signs and assess patient readiness for treatment while maintaining accurate medical coding and documentation.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, and verifying insurance information.
  • Uphold infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and maintaining a clean clinical environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and hygiene practices to promote overall oral health.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a dental clinic setting; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate record keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, patients, and administrative staff.
  • Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional training in pediatrics or pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while maintaining attention to detail; flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking skills. Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
