Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes.
  • Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to foster understanding and cooperation.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical documentation.
  • Uphold rigorous infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and knowledge of anatomy to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices.
  • Proficiency in dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, vital signs measurement, and medical coding is essential.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft enhances workflow efficiency.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Experience with specialized areas such as prosthodontics or endodontics is a plus but not required.
