Dental Assistant

Compensation:

$16 - $22 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Taking x-rays
• Sterilization, cleaning, and setting up dental operatories
• Assisting Dr. Morales chairside during procedures with patients
• Stocking and organizing dental supplies
• Dental receptionist duties include accepting phone calls, dental insurance verification, scheduling patients, and tidying up the office as needed
• Help dentists and dental hygienists during procedures or examinations by providing suction, handing off dental instruments, and ensuring chair-side accessibility to the team
• Prepare and lay out sterilized equipment, dental instruments, anesthetics, dental supplies, and materials inside treatment rooms for examinations and dental procedures
• Meet patients and explain dental care treatment plans so they feel comfortable during an appointment
• Provide postoperative instructions with methods for infection control of the patients’ teeth and gums after procedures, answer any questions they may have about dental hygiene, and schedule appointments for patient care follow-up
• Measure and document vital signs and medical history for patient records, take X-rays of patients’ mouths, and apply a topical anesthetic for dental procedures, if needed
• Coronal polishing

Qualifications:

• Computer skills and experience with dental software and updating patient histories is needed
• Active BLS/CPR certification is required
• 3 years of dental assisting experience as a registered dental assistant or certified dental assistant
• Need state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)

• Coronal polishing certification in the state of Texas
