Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary chairside assistant to the doctor during a variety of dental procedures.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in four-handed dentistry to support efficient and productive patient care.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready prior to patient appointments.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while maintaining patient safety and compliance with infection control standards.
- Manage patient records using Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar electronic dental record systems.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile clinical environment.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, treatment plans, and post-operative care instructions.
- Assist in maintaining efficient patient flow and schedule management throughout the day.
- Support the dental team in achieving productivity and patient satisfaction goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of dental assisting experience required.
- This is not an entry-level position.
- Strong experience with four-handed dentistry is required.
- Ability to keep pace with a busy doctor and manage multiple tasks efficiently throughout the day.
- Experience assisting with general dentistry procedures; additional experience in endodontics and oral surgery is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, treatment procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Experience taking digital X-rays and working with intraoral scanners or 3D imaging technology.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
