Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment in accordance with aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Assist dentist during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and digital radiography systems, ensuring patient safety through proper technique.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures, demonstrating knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
- Collaborate with the team to implement infection control practices, maintain aseptic techniques, and uphold the highest standards of safety within the dental clinic environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic setting, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental software platforms such as Dentrix, along with experience using EMR systems for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control protocols essential for effective chairside assistance.
- Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is highly desirable, including familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures and communication techniques.
- Certification in CPR or BLS is preferred; ongoing training in medical coding, endodontics, prosthodontics, or other specialties is a plus.
