Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth chairside support.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and digital radiography systems.
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical documentation as needed.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
- Uphold strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and understanding dental terminology is essential.
- Familiarity with Dentrix is desirable.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and aseptic technique are critical for success in this role.
- Experience supporting specialized areas like prosthodontics or endodontics will be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills combined with the ability to work effectively in a team practicing four-handed dentistry are important qualities for candidates.
