Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control protocols.
- Take and develop X-rays as required, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Utilize dental software such as Dentrix and Epic for managing patient records and appointments.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient histories while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-procedure care.
- Operate 3D scanners for imaging when necessary, contributing to advanced diagnostic processes.
- Support the dental team with general dentistry tasks, including preparing treatment rooms and managing inventory.
Skills
- Proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques to facilitate effective teamwork during procedures.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Experience with dental software systems, particularly Epic and Dentrix, for efficient practice management.
- Familiarity with operating 3D scanners and taking X-rays to assist in diagnostics.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting practices, including anatomy knowledge relevant to general dentistry.
- Ability to accurately document medical information while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
