Duties
- Prepare treatment areas with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained at all times
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
- Take and develop X-ray images accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to support safe treatment planning for all patients
- Operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and medical imaging tools to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Support front desk staff by performing dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments and updating medical records in Epic or similar systems
- Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and adherence to OSHA guidelines
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and oral health best practices to promote ongoing wellness
- Assist with chairside procedures in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent anatomy knowledge and technical skills in four-handed dentistry
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Hands-on experience with X-ray technology, 3D scanners, medical imaging tools, and dental assisting procedures
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical terminology relevant to dental care
- Proven ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach toward patients of all ages—including pediatrics
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are available for growth
