Duties
- Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage the clinic’s daily calendar using dental practice management software such as Dentrix Ascend.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth to ensure accurate medical collection and reimbursement.
- Prepare and review patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining meticulous documentation review practices.
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterile environments following dental terminology standards.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; respond promptly to patient inquiries and coordinate appointment scheduling efficiently.
- Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech.
- Conduct insurance verification, explain treatment plans to patients, and assist with intake processes to enhance patient service experience.
Experience
- Proven clinic experience in a dental or medical office environment with familiarity in dental terminology and medical coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9).
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, dental practice management software (Dentrix Ascend), and EMR systems like Epic or Athenahealth.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
- Prior experience with medical billing, Medicare claims processing, ICD coding, and care plan documentation is highly desirable.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clerical experience in front desk operations; ability to handle multi-line phones and manage office workflows smoothly.
