Job: Dental Assistant
Shift Type : Full-time or Part-time
My non-corporate dental office is currently seeking dental assistant(s). Our office is a three-dentist practice with state-of-the-art equipment and a growing list of patients. Our office participates with most PPO dental insurance. We do not accept or participate with any HMO, Medicaid/Medicare, or state capitation dental plans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This person will handle many operational tasks including (but not limited to):
- greeting and scheduling patients
- handling some financial aspects of the office
- reviewing treatment plans with patients
- taking of x-rays
- preparing, sterilizing, organizing and setting up dental equipment
- ensuring that all dental instruments are cleaned and processed according to established standards
- adhering to all relevant federal and state regulations, guidelines, policies and standards for the provision of dental clinical services
- maintaining inventory of dental instruments and supplies
- answering incoming phone calls when necessary
- serving as patient advocate, including chair-side education, comforting an anxious patient, communicating with families and assisting with report of services and referrals
- assisting in providing life support in the event of an emergency
- representing the office in a positive and professional manner
- assisting doctor when needed
- making phone calls and appointment when needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- How to effectively manage different levels of staffing
- Current knowledge of, and the ability to follow, a basic range of dental clinical procedures and protocols
- Proficient computer skills
- Knowledge of computerized practice management system (preferred), OpenDental
- Knowledge of general supplies, equipment and inventory control
- Knowledge of dental equipment maintenance
- Knowledge of basic oral health and disease information
- Exceptional communication skills
- Knowledge of infection control procedures
- Ability to expose digital radiographs
- Ability to use Carivu and take intra-oral photos
- Ability to comfortably work with young children
Pay: Hourly via time clock. Starting rate determined upon interviewing.
