Dental Assistant, PreDental Students Encouraged, Foreign-Trained Dentists encouraged

We are a one-dentist private practice office located in intown Buckhead Atlanta near intersection of Peachtree Rd and Piedmont Rd seeking chairside dental assistant. Willing to train the right predental student/recent-grad who has no previous dental-assistant class training. Interviews will be held at convenient times for the applicant towards the end of our workdays Monday through Thursdays, and some Fridays are flexible for interview times. There is no charge for parking at our office.

About You: Our ideal hiring trend trend is aspiring future dental-school-applicants as the successful track record for the last 4 or so years would indicate. Three foreign-trained dentists with intentions for more training in U.S. have proven to be a valuable additions as well. A previous assistant here who was undergrad pre-dental at the time is now in his third year at MCG/Dental College of Georgia, and a previous employee who is a foreign-trained dentist is in his second year of specialty residency in U.S. Our 2023 cohort currently includes a freshman dental student at Lincoln-Knoxville and senior at Univ Maryland, and the 2024 cohort has rising sophomore dental students at both Univ Michigan and Nova Southeastern.

Although the position is open to a conventional applicants who have attended dental assisting school; the limited hours, limited administrative duties, and limited earning potential usually are not a match for conventionally trained assistants. Team-members with prior work experience in retail or restaurant-server settings often provide an excellent mix of clinical-care and welcoming hospitality towards patients. We work hard and play hard, as typically once a quarter we plan an evening team outing in greater Atlanta. Past outing have included Botanical Gardens at Christmas, Fun Spot America go-cart tracks, 80's Concerts, FlowRider surf simulator, and Continuing Education seminars at Hinman. We say "Yes m'am" and "No sir" to patients just like Mama taught us, and call patients Mr. LastName, Mrs. LastName until a comfort level is established where the patient indicates first name is just fine. Our team-members know that "yeah" and similar are not examples of professional communication.

Our dentist is hospital-residency-trained beyond dental school (GPR) so we do typical restorative dentistry like composites, crowns, bridges, and dentures but also more complicated but highly interesting surgical procedures like placing implants, molar endo, and bone grafting upon surgical extraction. It does not mean the applicant has to know all these procedures, but he/she wants to learn as we go. He has a inclination for informal teaching of clinical dental concepts that has paid off in multiples for a predental student wanting to gain experience in the field to become more competitive for dental school admission. Hours: Currently the long 8am to 8pm day is divided between a MORNING SHIFT and AFTERNOON SHIFT for the assistant to work one or the other so as not to be a long exhausting shift. An applicant needs to be able to commit to three shifts a week at least. Currently our priority needs (divided between two new hires) are the Tuesday evening shift and the Wednesday and Friday morning shifts, although this is fluid as the year progresses and spring semester changes to summer semester. Other shift options could easily become available. Let's talk. The team of assistants typically coordinate among themselves so all shifts are conveniently covered. Fridays are half-to-three-quarter day, with typically one closed-Friday per month. Once a quarter we may be closed on a Monday as well giving a 4 day weekend.

Please consider carefully your willingness and availability to work, because that's what we are here to do. A car is not necessary as three of our past/current team-members do not drive and made great use of the MARTA bus that stops outside our building and connects to the rail station easily once you know what you are doing.
