Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensure infection control, and support the delivery of high-quality dental care. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment utilizing advanced dental technology and systems, including EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic. The Registered Dental Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining patient comfort and safety while supporting the clinical team in various procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures with proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control standards are maintained
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Record patient vital signs, medical history, and other relevant medical documentation accurately within EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
- Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical records, and scheduling appointments as needed
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care
- Maintain dental supplies inventory and sterilize instruments according to infection control guidelines
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures with specialized knowledge of pediatric dental terminology and techniques
- Assist with administrative tasks related to medical coding and documentation while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient care delivery in general dentistry settings
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in chairside assisting and dental assisting techniques
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms for managing medical records and documentation
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, anatomy, dental terminology, and medical terminology
- Experience with X-ray procedures, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technologies
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with various dental procedures across multiple specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment
- Pediatric dentistry experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
