Dental Assistant- South Chicago Area

Duties

  • Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
  • Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards
  • Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis
  • Manage medical documentation and records using systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to ensure precise recordkeeping and compliance with dental coding standards
  • Provide chairside assistance by managing vital signs, assisting with medical imaging, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient patient care
  • Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned

Skills

  • Proficiency with Dentrix Ascend or for accurate documentation and scheduling
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Experience with dental assisting techniques including chairside support, infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and anatomy knowledge
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining high standards of radiation safety
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation, medical records management, and medical coding processes
  • Competence in handling dental equipment including 3D scanners and other advanced imaging tools
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dental team members such as receptionists and hygienists
  • Understanding of general dentistry procedures along with specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
