Dental assistant/ treatment plan coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists with a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
  • Take and develop X-ray images, operate 3D scanners, and perform vital signs assessments to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to document patient information accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate treatment plans by explaining procedures to patients, scheduling follow-up visits, and assisting with medical documentation and coding for insurance purposes.
  • Support dental reception duties by greeting patients, verifying insurance details, and managing appointment scheduling efficiently.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance workflow and patient comfort.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, with familiarity using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently.
  • Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable; familiarity with medical records management and medical coding is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain treatment plans clearly and coordinate effectively with patients and team members.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Certification in dental assisting or relevant training in chairside assisting; additional certifications in pediatrics or endodontics are advantageous. Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
