Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant with a Coronal Polishing License to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support the delivery of exceptional patient care by preparing treatment areas, assisting dentists during procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for procedures
- Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Perform coronal polishing procedures in accordance with licensing requirements to enhance patient oral health
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures in line with industry standards
- Provide chairside assistance during procedures, including handling dental terminology, assisting with dental instrumentation, and managing patient comfort
- Coordinate with the dental team to ensure smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques and effective communication with the dental receptionist
Qualifications
- Valid Coronal Polishing License required; additional certifications in X-ray is required
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety and comfort
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages including pediatrics
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation practices related to dental records and medical records management
