Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and schedule appointments using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, handling inquiries, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-up
- Perform administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and maintaining accurate medical records in EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance benefits and process claims efficiently while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and documenting treatment details accurately in EHR systems
- Conduct intake procedures for new patients, review medical histories, and update care plans as needed
- Support billing processes through medical coding (ICD-10, CPT coding), medical collection efforts, and documentation review to ensure timely reimbursement
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental office or medical clinic environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical billing practices
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for health information management
- Ability to perform accurate 10-key typing and maintain high attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are highly valued
- Experience with insurance verification, medical coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and Medicare/Medicaid processes preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with clerical experience including filing, scheduling, and managing medical records
- Demonstrated ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure
- Prior clinic or hospital experience is advantageous; familiarity with dental office software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is preferred
