Dental Assistant/Receptionist

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and schedule appointments using advanced EMR (Open Dental)
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate documentation review and data entry
  • Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and maintaining sterilization protocols in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Handle medical billing and coding tasks including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, and insurance verification to facilitate accurate claims processing
  • Maintain organized medical records, update care plans, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; address patient inquiries promptly and courteously
  • Perform administrative support tasks such as filing, appointment reminders, managing office supplies, and handling patient intake forms

Requirements

  • Proven clinic or dental office experience with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical administrative procedures
  • Familiarity with Open Dental; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is essential
  • Experience with medical billing including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), insurance verification, and Medicare processes
  • Ability to handle sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA standards; excellent attention to detail for documentation review
  • Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Strong customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and excellent typing skills (including 10-key typing)
  • Office management experience including scheduling, filing, and front desk operations in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures is highly desirable; previous dental clinic or hospital experience is preferred
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
