Dental Assistant/receptionist

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, where your energy and dedication will help create a welcoming environment for patients while ensuring smooth clinic operations. This vital role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, offering an engaging opportunity to make a positive impact on patient care. You will be the friendly face and efficient organizer that keeps our dental practice running seamlessly, providing exceptional service and support at every step. This is a friendly, laid back stress free office. Single provder. We ask you to join us at both out East Setauket location and our Jericho location. We work three days a week and three Saturdays a month. Doctor closes one week very three months.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
  • Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and managing dental supplies.
  • Handle patient intake, update medical histories, and review documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage medical billing processes including insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare claims to facilitate timely reimbursements.
  • Maintain meticulous dental records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, schedule appointments, and address patient inquiries promptly.
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health information using EMR systems like Meditech or eClinicalWorks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a dental office or clinic setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and administrative support.
  • Proficiency in dental practice management software Softdent is highly desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing).
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
  • Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience at the front desk.
  • Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and office management enhances your fit for this role.

Pay: $25.37 - $30.55 per hour
