Dental Billing and Insurance Specialist

Job Overview
We are a small, family-owned Periodontal practice located on the West side of Indianapolis. We are seeking a Dental Billing and Insurance Specialist to join out team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental billing, coding, and collections and overall revenue cycle management.

This position will be full time and located on-site. Typical hours are from 7:00am until 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

• The Dental Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of dental practices by managing patient records, coding, and billing processes
• This position requires a detail-oriented individual who is knowledgeable in dental terminology and coding systems to support the administrative functions of a dental office
• The Dental Billing Specialist will work closely with dental professionals to facilitate patient care and maintain accurate dental records
• Warmly greet and check in patients
• Answer phone calls and schedule patient appointments
• Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain accurate patient billing records
• Coordinate with dental staff to ensure accurate billing and coding
• Submit claims electronically and follow up on unpaid claims
• Prepare and send patient billing statements
• Stay updated on changes in dental billing coding practices and insurance
• Help in other areas of office when needed

Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical terminology and familiarity with medical records management systems.
• Experience in medical billing, coding, or collections is preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 coding systems is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
• Previous experience in a dental or medical office setting is advantageous but not required.
