Job Summary

Duties
- Review and accurately code dental procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes to ensure precise billing.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims via Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, following all regulatory guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies to maximize reimbursements.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to procedures to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, including documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and billing correspondence.
- Collaborate with dental staff to ensure accurate documentation of treatments and procedures in medical records.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing within a dental or healthcare setting is required; familiarity with dental-specific coding such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 is essential.
- Strong knowledge of DRG coding systems and their application in dental billing is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems used for medical records management and billing processes.
- Experience with medical terminology, dental procedures, and insurance claim processing is necessary.
- Prior work involving ICD coding, medical collections, and handling complex billing scenarios will be advantageous.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
