Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and care, including updating medical records and documentation review.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly.
- Maintain organized dental records and files while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for health information management.
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and collection of payments to support smooth clinic operations.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) including eClinicalWorks or Meditech.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate patient care plans and facilitate seamless communication between patients and providers.
- Uphold confidentiality standards while handling sensitive medical information related to ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a medical receptionist or front desk staff in a dental or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with dental office management software. Office uses Curve Dental, will train if needed.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and insurance procedures including Medicare is essential.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key typing).
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy clinic environment.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices.
- Previous clinic or hospital experience involving medical scheduling, documentation review, and office management will set candidates apart.
