Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software Eaglesoft.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring proper documentation review and coding (CPT, ICD-9/10).
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Process payments, perform medical billing tasks including ICD coding and documentation review, and handle collections efficiently.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake, medical office management, and care plan documentation.
  • Utilize EMR systems like Meditech or Athenahealth to update patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Support office management by filing documents, managing correspondence, and maintaining a clean front desk environment.
  • Assist with insurance verification and follow-up on outstanding claims to optimize revenue cycle management.

Experience

  • Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with dental terminology and medical administrative support.
  • Proven experience with EMR systems
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and medical coding (ICD-9/10, CPT) to ensure accurate documentation review and billing processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated clerical experience involving filing, scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records management.
  • Experience working with multi-line phone systems and hospital or healthcare settings enhances your suitability for this role.
