Dental front desk/ Treatment coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Schedule appointments efficiently while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
  • Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications using platforms like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Explain treatment plans clearly to patients, review documentation, and ensure understanding of care options
  • Collect payments, process medical billing including CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and Meditech documentation review
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
  • Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and handling patient inquiries with excellent phone etiquette
  • Assist with intake procedures for new patients and update medical history forms while ensuring accuracy in health information management
  • Support clinic staff by coordinating care plans and facilitating communication between patients and dental providers

Experience

  • Prior experience in a dental office or healthcare setting is highly preferred; clinic experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD coding), and medical billing processes
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms like Meditech or Epic
  • Experience with insurance verification procedures including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence and office management expertise
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
