Dental Front Office Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Office Assistant to join our busy dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative and clinical support, ensuring smooth daily operations and excellent patient care. This role requires proficiency with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of dental terminology and medical billing processes. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve our diverse patient community. Prior dental office experience and familiarity with practice management software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Meditech are highly desirable. The Dental Office Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining accurate documentation, managing patient interactions, and supporting clinical staff.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments and answering multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
  • Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verification, and handle billing and collections using medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10) and medical billing procedures
  • Maintain accurate patient records within EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft
  • Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical history and updating health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; ensure proper coding for procedures and diagnoses
  • Manage appointment scheduling using dental office management software; coordinate care plans and follow-up appointments
  • Support clinical staff by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting with patient care as needed
  • Ensure compliance with health information management standards and maintain confidentiality of patient data in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Support billing processes related to Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance providers while ensuring accurate documentation review

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and clinical workflows is highly advantageous
  • Proficiency with Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Open Dental would be helpful
  • Knowledge of medical coding would be helpful
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), multi-line phone systems, and typing skills (including 10 key typing)
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both English and bilingual settings if applicable
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and patient privacy
  • Previous experience supporting front desk operations or administrative support within a healthcare setting is desirable

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
