Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional support to our dental practitioners, ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting the Dental Hygieniest.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures
- Take dental X-rays, ensuring proper safety and technique standards
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately prior to procedures
- Perform infection control procedures following aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in accordance with OSHA standards
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation for pediatrics or other specialties as needed
- Support the use of advanced technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment when applicable
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix, for scheduling and record keeping
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient confidentiality
- Experience with X-ray procedures and radiation safety protocols
- Strong understanding of dental terminology
- Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management is advantageous
