Dental Hygiene Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional support to our dental practitioners, ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting the Dental Hygieniest.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during examinations and procedures
  • Take dental X-rays, ensuring proper safety and technique standards
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
  • Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
  • Record vital signs and medical history information accurately prior to procedures
  • Perform infection control procedures following aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination
  • Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in accordance with OSHA standards
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation for pediatrics or other specialties as needed
  • Support the use of advanced technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment when applicable

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix, for scheduling and record keeping
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient confidentiality
  • Experience with X-ray procedures and radiation safety protocols
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology
  • Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management is advantageous
