Performs preventative therapy related to dental hygiene under the direction of the Periodontists.

Performs scaling, root planning and polishing of teeth. Provides patient education on good oral hygiene practice.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene, and
• Three (3) years of experience as a Dental Hygienist, and
• Current license / registration in North America, Western Europe, or Australia / New Zealand.

The Department of Dental Clinic engages in clinical practice in a forty-nine operatory clinic in the out-patient wing of the main hospital and two satellite clinics. It is staffed by dentists (consultants, associate consultants, and general practice residents), dental hygienists, registered nurses, dental assistants, dental laboratory technicians, secretaries, and other support staff.

Among the services provided are: general dentistry, specialty dentistry and hospital in-patient dentistry. Tertiary care services are available for patients who are medically compromised, have facial pain, require maxillofacial or comprehensive prosthetics, have facial deformities, or require out-patient general anesthesia (with the Department of Anesthesiology) for dental treatment. The department provides team members to the Hospital's Cleft Palate and Head & Neck Oncology Teams.
