Duties

  • Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
  • Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and comfort.
  • Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
  • Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, with a strong foundation in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with medical imaging equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable, along with an understanding of pediatric dentistry best practices.
