Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and radiation safety standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support infection control procedures by sterilizing instruments, managing aseptic techniques, and ensuring a clean clinical environment at all times.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices, including working with children and understanding their unique needs.
- Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on pediatric dentistry, general dentistry procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and recognize signs requiring medical attention or referral.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems for efficient documentation management.
